Cambodia - Vietnam Trip Day 10 (24/06/06)

Day 10...we took a tour to Cao Dai Temple and Cu Chi tunnel...the tour cost each USD5...

first stop is Cao Dai Temple...well i am not very sure whether you can rate them as a religion or not...thus i will not talk much about it here...you can find more information about it in the net...basically Caodaism worship: God as symbolized by the Divine Eye, Sakyamuni who represents Buddha, Lao Tse who represents Taoism, Jesus Christ who represents Christianity, Confucius who represents Confucianism and Khuong Thai Cong who represents Geniism..so it is a combo of 6 beliefs...

Male has to enter from the right tower...female has to enter from the left tower

well that is all for the temple pictures...next Cu Chi tunnel, here i come....The Cu Chi Tunnels are located approximately 30 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City in Cu Chi district. This district is known nationwide as the base where the Vietnamese mounted their operations of the Tet Offensive in 1968.The Cu Chi Tunnels consist of more than 200 km of underground tunnels. This main axis system has many branches connecting to underground hideouts, shelters, and entrances to other tunnels. The tunnels are between 0.5 to 1 m wide, just enough space for a person to walk along by bending or dragging. However, parts of the tunnels have been modified to accommodate visitorsThe upper soil layer is between 3 to 4 m thick and can support the weight of a 50-ton tank and the damage of light cannons and bombs. The underground network provided sleeping quarters, meeting rooms, hospitals, and other social rooms. FYI, the entrance fee is 70k Dong..it is about USD 4.30...first part of the tour is a short movie about the tunnel and the resistance against US..next part is the real shit...the tunnels...

the map basically showing the routes we gona take during the tour...basically we just see part of the tunnel system...the rest are offlimits to tourists...

inside the "tourist" tunnel...the 100m long tunnel has been renovated...original size is 0.5m in width and 1m+ in height...they renovated it into 1m in width and about 1.7m in height so ang moh tourist also can walk...but then when i walk i also need to like semi-squat to walk coz the passage is not the same height all the time...at one part i need to crawl..LOL

our guide during the tour...yeah he is a soldier...his grandpa fought against the french...his father fought against the americans...and now he is a soldier, serving his country...

well i am speechless...i strongly feel the american government should be responsible....effects of agent orange...

a group photo with both Andrew and Nigel coz me, Kah Sing and Jin are going back to Phom Peh by bus the next day morning...
